With careful consideration of the meanings they carry, Kathy Allam creates assemblages both large and small which transform humble materials into the sublime. She has been working intensely with found plastic for a number of years, culminating in the Miasma series installed on the Mends St foreshore, South Perth, in November last year.
This flourishing emerging artist has exhibited in numerous exhibitions, including four times at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe and once at Sculpture by the Sea Bondi, and is a regular at Sculpture at Bathers. Her work has widespread appeal, with major awards including Melville Sculpture Walk, Castaways and “Kid’s Favourite” at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe. Her work is held in the collections of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, North Metropolitan Institute of TAFE, and many private collections.
