Makinson, Kirsten & Roberts, Heloise
Heloise Roberts and Kirsten Makinson are West Australian artists who work across a variety of mediums to explore concepts that investigate human endeavour.
Heloise uses the medium of photography, video and drawing to create a dialogue by presenting narratives that explore the philosophical study of everyday life within contemporary society.
Kirsten’s work utilises mixed media, such as soap, paraffin wax and recycled materials to capture human presence and evoke childhood memories.
Both artists share an affinity with the natural world. In their collaborative process they consider the interplay between humankind and the environment.

An exploration of the pattern and movement of the tides forms the basis for the work. The sculpture references the diurnal nature of Perth tides with a single high and low tide each calendar day, while the amplitude of the structure reflects the shape of the tide chart for Bathers Beach in February 2020.
