‘Steel Magnolia’ will be built as part of my residency at the Fremantle Art Centre from mid-December 2019 to mid-February 2020. During the last few years I have extended my interest in working with women’s garments to working with the dress form. To me ‘Steel Magnolia’ is a beautiful warrior woman in a suit of armour that protects her. She makes a great feminist statement of strength and resilience.
